Who Am I? I Am

Who am I and what am I about?

My deep answer would probably be that I am everything and I am nothing. However, I'm sure you don't want to know about that.

So, in slightly more practical terms, I am Faith.

I've always had a lot of energy. I don't really remember being any other way. One of my earliest memories is waking my mum up after she had fallen asleep on the sofa because I needed her to rewind the VHS so I could watch Grease again. I loved all the songs, and I so wanted to be a Pink Lady.

That part of me has never really changed.

I've spent much of my life doing things, creating things and seeing possibilities before they exist. I can become completely absorbed in an idea and build it visually in my head before I've written anything down or told anybody else what I'm doing. People have sometimes thought I was sitting staring at a wall doing absolutely nothing when, in reality, I could be working through an entire project in my mind.

For years, I just thought that was how my brain worked. Later, when meditation became part of my life, I began to realise that perhaps I had been accessing a form of it long before I ever called it meditation. I could become completely still on the outside while something much bigger was taking shape inside.

That way of thinking has followed me into almost everything I've done.

I've worked in some very serious areas of life and I've created projects from nothing. I've always been interested in finding solutions, particularly when something isn't working and everybody has somehow accepted that this is simply the way it has to be.

I've also never been particularly good at accepting a rule simply because somebody says it is a rule. If it makes sense, fair enough. If it protects somebody, absolutely. But if nobody can explain why we're all still doing something other than, "Well, that's what everybody does," I will probably start asking questions.

I don't fit very neatly into one box either.

I can be deeply spiritual and extremely practical. I can be discussing something profound one minute and find the ridiculous side of it the next. Humour has always been a huge part of me. I've been told more than once that I should try stand up comedy, and maybe one day I will. You can never really say never in this life.

I've been called hyperactive for as long as I can remember, and people have also suggested things such as high-functioning autism. People have always wanted to put some sort of label on the way my brain works. I don't really believe in defining myself through labels because, for me, labels can very quickly become limits. I don't want a word deciding what I am capable of or who I am allowed to become, because many times in my life I have surprised people and achieved things against the odds.

My hyperactivity and the way my brain works have never limited me in this world. All I can really say is that you can only be yourself. I've had some extraordinary careers and successes with my big wonderful brain.

The way my mind works has allowed me to hyper-focus and achieve things in periods of time that other people simply couldn't. It has given me a particular kind of intelligence and wisdom, and an ability to see connections, possibilities and solutions very quickly. I see that as a gift.

Animals have always been a huge part of my life too. I was the child writing letters because I was furious about how animals were being treated, and giving away all my birthday money because I had decided somebody needed to do something about it until I was old enough to help properly myself. I've been vegetarian since I was ten.

Dogs in particular have accompanied me through so much of my life. Ted has seen me through night shifts, through working and helping other people, and through much of what I have created in recent years. He used to come to work with me too, so in his own little way he has been a working dog himself. He has been beside me while The Cosmic Wink has come to life and while the Great Mother Wisdom has been brought through with me. Through all of it, he has also become my little life guide.

My children keep me grounded. They are kind souls who care about animals, nature and people, and, just for the record, I am more proud of my kids than I am of this website.

And I love creating. That has always been there. I love taking an idea and making it real, whether that has been a project designed to help people, something practical that needed solving, or something completely new that began in my head before anybody else could see it.

I think that is probably the simplest way of explaining me. I have always been somebody who thinks, creates, questions, helps, laughs, loves deeply and keeps moving. I don't need a bigger definition than that.

So, who am I?

I am Faith.

And I am here to bring faith.
