Ancient remembering for modern humans

Great Mother Wisdom

Great Mother Wisdom is where I explore consciousness, nature, humanity, creation and the strange business of being alive.

Some pieces begin in meditation. Others begin with something happening in the world, a question I cannot leave alone, or a moment that asks for deeper reflection.

This is not doctrine and it is not a set of rules. It is a place for listening, questioning, remembering and seeing what opens.

It is also home to my longer reflections, writings and blog-style pieces. This is a space where ideas can unfold more fully, where symbols and stories can breathe, and where the deeper threads running through life can be explored with more room around them.

Let Me Introduce You to the Great Mother

The Great Mother has been a prevalent presence in my meditations for several years now, and if you are expecting a quiet, floaty, ethereal mother figure who whispers softly from somewhere in the clouds, you may be slightly disappointed.

The Great Mother I experience is a very big character.

She is strong. She is loving. She is mischievous. She is full of energy. She is abrupt, direct and not particularly interested in dancing around the point.

She sometimes tells me that she is asking me to do something, before making it perfectly clear that she isn't really asking at all.

The Dance Between Feminine & Masculine

Divine feminine and divine masculine are often spoken about as though they belong to women and men.

I see them differently.

They are qualities of consciousness that move through all of us: receiving and directing, intuition and action, softness and strength, surrender and structure.

Neither is complete without the other.
